Martha's Vineyard Fly Fishing

Captain Jim Herbert, a US Coast Guard and IGFA Certified Captain, has 30 + years of experience fishing Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. The Captain guarantees fishing success or you don't pay. Based in Cotuit, otherwise known as "fishing central" on Cape Cod, is located only a short drive to many of the Capes premiere fishing areas. Popponessette and the shallows of the South Cape beaches, the many shoals that surround Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands, Buzzards Bay at Woods Hole, and the rips at Chatham's Monomoy Island are among Captain Jim's favorites. Having so many choices of launch locations makes for a comfortable day on the water with as little wind as possible. Along with the fantastic fishing, the multitude of wildlife including Seals, Sharks, Sea Sunfish and enough bird life will keep all wildlife enthusiasts and photo hounds happy.

Captain Jim is a friendly and humorous full service fishing guide for Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. Local points of interest and a vast knowledge of the local history and top of the line equipment will complete your day on the water and keep you coming back for years to come.

The pristine waters surrounding Cape Cod are calling you for an adventure that you will always remember and keep you coming back year after year. Within minutes of the dock you will experience the unforgettable fishing that Cape Cod and the Islands are known for. The warm, shallow waters of Nantucket Sound and Martha’s Vineyard are a feeding station for multitudes of fish heading north from their winter homes. Fly rods and light spinning tackle are the weapons of choice for stripers and blues fish in the spring, as well as for false albacore and atlantic bonito in the late summer and fall. We will also explore the deeper side of the Cape. The cooler blue-green water of Cape Cod Bay offers a unique fishing experience. From the Canal to the tip of Provincetown and Stellwagen Bank, is the home to blue fin tuna and a number of different species of shark. Hooking up to either of these bruisers with a fly rod will challenge even the most experienced angler. Conventional and spinning gear is also available for these fish for those of you who are fly rod challenged. Fantastic ground fishing for the the legendary cod as well as haddock and fluke swim in these waters and are always willing to take a bait and become that nights table fare. So, come and spend a glorious day with Captain Jim and Cape and Islands Charters, you'll be glad you did.
